About me

I have over 20 years of experience and success in the creation of high quality artwork designed to withstand the rigours of the public space. Works have been in 3 dimensions, as well as ground and wall based relief. Over the years I have made new works for town centres, community gardens, public recreation grounds, local authority buildings, housing association developments as well as libraries, hospitals and health centres.

Bilston piece delivered to studio

 CIMG5996

Horrible wet and windy today, just the sort of day you want to be manoeuvring heavy objects off a vehicle into the yard. Needs must though and we now have all our current projects back at the studio.

The Bilston pieces were delivered at lunch time today.

The work now needs cleaning and oxidising. This will take a few weeks to complete then it will be ready for siting.

After an initial cleaning some fantastic colours begin to appear on the surface of the metal. The Corten will eventually oxidise to a rich red brown colour.

Sculpture in Progress 22/11/2011

CIMG5904

Yesterday we spent the day with the guys at Argent Engineering in Hull putting together the first 4 sections of the sculpture for Bilston New Sector Police Station. After some initial discussion the work came together quite quickly.

CIMG5918

The first 4 sections are now all tacked ready for welding. There are a further 3 sections to make but now the first sections are together these should be quite straight forward as they are simply the same piece made in the opposite hand.

CIMG5921

Appropriate supports will be added on the backs of the pieces. The sculpture will be viewed from the front only so substantial supports can be added to the reverse of the pieces without detracting too much from the design.

The spirals create fantastic shadows.

The sculptural seating supports have now all been cast. There’s just a bit of fettling to do before they return to the studio.

Hopefully we will take delivery of these pieces within the next week so we can begin to fit the oak seat.

Bilston, Work in Progress

In June 2010 we were commissioned by West Midlands Police to create a piece of sculpture for Bilston New Sector Police Station. This project has been on hold for over a year but finally we have been given the go ahead to begin fabrication.  All the Corten A pieces are now cut and ready for assembly.  Work should now proceed fairly quickly, we hope to complete the piece before Christmas ready for installation early next year.

Wolverton Mill Seating

We have started work on the seating element for the Wolverton Play Area. The piece is inspired by river bed pebbles washed and tumbled by the motion of the water.

The casts are delivered

Today the casts arrived back at the studio from the foundry.

Really pleased with how they look.

There's a little bit of finishing to do, but not an awful lot.

All three pieces set out in the yard. There is still a seating element to be made to accompany these pieces. Once this is completed everything will be delivered to site.
